The most common purpose for contact lenses is to correct your vision. Contacts can help with astigmatism, farsightedness, nearsightedness, and presbyopia. After getting your routine eye exam, if you are told you have vision correction needs, you may be able to use contacts for this purpose.
Another increasingly common reason why patients want contacts is for cosmetic reasons. You can change the appearance of your eyes using contacts. For example, if you have one eye that is green and the other is brown, you can use cosmetic contacts to make both eyes look the same. These contact lenses can also be used to change the look of your iris, typically so the iris looks larger.
Here at Omni Eye Care, we offer a variety of contact lenses for individuals. For most of our vision care patients, we provide soft contact lenses. These lenses are the most popular because they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Unfortunately, soft contacts aren’t suitable for all vision correction needs.
We also prescribe rigid gas permeable contact lenses. These lenses allow the eye to breathe, which is good for overall eye health. Patients with astigmatisms who aren’t able to use soft contacts will typically get rigid gas permeable contacts. We also provide cosmetic contact lenses to alter the look of the eyes.
